3 Simple Steps to Help Kickstart Your Posting Journey

Social media contains many assets that make it a powerful tool for boosting a business. Proper management of your socials can be a gateway to new opportunities and increase your overall public engagement, visibility increase, and reach.

Step One: Chose the Right Platform

The first step to successfully posting on social media is to choose the right platform to house your content. Two important factors that impact this decision are knowing your target audience and the type of content you will be posting. It’s important to keep in mind that people use social media for many different reasons, so it’s crucial to know your audience and their needs to efficiently decide what and where to post.

For example, TikTok is a good option for someone whose target audience is younger and aims to reach them through entertaining and relatable content. This platform is also known to be successful in promoting products to niche audiences. However, even if TikTok might be a great platform for one to post, it doesn’t mean it’s a perfect fit for all. If frequently posting short entertaining videos and keeping up with trends isn’t aligned with your brand, it’s best to look into another social media platform. Instagram is another platform with a very large and diversified audience which can be reached in a few different ways given its posting flexibility. The platform allows you to post video, photos, stories, and it’s also easier to interact with your audience through surveys and Q&A’s.

Step 2: Adapt Your Content

Once you’ve chosen your social media platform, you can start planning your content. Your content must reflect your brand while fulfilling your audience’s needs. To do so, you can follow trends and adapt them to your context. Another tip would be to look into your successful competitors to see what works for them. Don’t be fooled, I’m not suggesting copying their content, but rather seeing if you’re missing anything. Remember that you most likely have similar audiences, so you should investigate how they’re reaching theirs in order to adapt your strategies to reach yours. Another factor that should guide you while building your content is the platform’s algorithm so it’s important to familiarize yourself with it. Most social media algorithms have a primary goal: increase user engagement. To do so, try to create content that encourages your audience to interact with your posts. This can be done by asking them for their input or opinions- and don’t forget to interact in the comments!

Step 3: Be Consistent

The last, but not least, crucial step to success on your social media journey is to be consistent. Algorithms will favor content creators who post consistently. Consistent content that incites user engagement is more likely to be shown to a larger audience, so when you’re planning your posting calendar, think to post as much as you realistically can and keep your content diverse so that your audience stays captivated. That being said, don’t sacrifice quality over quantity. It’s up to you to determine how much quality, consistent content you can post within a given amount of time.

While following these three steps, remember to stay true to yourself and have fun! The content you put out there reflects you and your brand. You’ll notice that trends come and go, and shifting with the tides will keep you relevant—but remember that authenticity shines brightest. The combination of authenticity, versatility, and pleasure in what you do is what will make your content stand out!
