Ré Phillips, Co-founder and Lead Consultant at Root to Bloom, is a multidisciplinary creative, impact strategist, leadership coach, and doctoral researcher from the ancestral lands of Muscogee communities in the American South. Her work sits at the intersection of art & social advocacy, and she unpacks complex human experiences and global challenges through her creative practice, research practice, and advocacy work. Ré’s commitment to artivism is inextricably linked to her lifelong identity as an artist and an African-American woman, descended from enslaved peoples in the United States, alongside her professional experience as a humanitarian worker. She splits her time between Atlanta and London.

Ré has received awards for her art and advocacy. She is a Fulbright Scholar, an AIF Banyan Fellow, as well as a winner of the Rare Rising Stars British Award, the Call to Conscience Award from the Stanford MLK Research Institute, and the Princeton Prize in Race Relations. Outside of art and advocacy, Ré is a former financial services AVP, World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and UN consultant. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford, a Master’s Degree in International Development from the University of Oxford, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at SOAS, University of London.

Ré is a polylingual creative, and in her spare time enjoys sculpting, practicing Mandarin, and learning new words in Amharic.
